The Fauves - 1997 - Sunbury '97 FLAC

An absolute classic from The Fauves as they reach the height of their powers (ably assisted by producer Wayne Connolly). Coxy provides a guided tour of the Sunbury (legendary Oz 70's outdoor festival) site ("there's the tree where Mum and Dad conceived me, do you believe that I'm a child of Sunbury '73?") before he shepherds us backstage with an Access All Areas laminate. Oz Pub rock mythology is where Coxy excels. And next up, naturally, are remakes of two Oz Rock classics, The Radiators' Comin' Home and Dragon's Rain and a reworked Rising Blow. Fabulous work.

The Fauves - 1997 - Surf City Limits FLAC

Another gem lifted from Lazy Highways and an excellent foray into, dar I say, commercial arrangement, masterfully performed and cruelly under-promoted by an unsuitable record company.

Lakeside is a cover of their fellow Mornington Peninsular brethren Australian Crawl, and is a portent for The Fauves' future down-time/side project Pub Rock. In similar territory It's Not '74 Anymore is a brilliantly weary ode to a legendary roadie from another. Sleep Wonderfully Warm With Linda Lovelace is less effective but would keep the mosh-pit happy all the same.

Weddings, Parties, Anything - 1997 - Don't Need Much FLAC

Weddings, Parties, Anything. were an Australian folk rock band formed in 1984 in Melbourne and continuing until 1999.The band was led by Mick Thomas, the only continual member throughout the group's history.
A remix of a track from their CD Riveresque ("Don't Need Much--Remix"), and three live cuts of older Weddings Parties Anything material, by the 1997 line-up. Not that it is a bad release, just of little interest outside of fans. It was as if the new line-up wanted to prove that they could improve on the older material.

David Lee Roth - 1985 - Crazy From The Heat FLAC

Crazy from the Heat is a 1985 EP by American rock musician David Lee Roth. His debut solo recording, it was released while Roth was still lead singer for Van Halen, though he parted ways with the band several weeks later and launched a solo career. The EP is certified platinum by the RIAA, having sold more than one million copies in the United States.

Crazy from the Heat consists of cover versions of songs of a decidedly dissimilar style from Roth's previous work with Van Halen. The song "Easy Street" was originally recorded by The Edgar Winter Group, while "Coconut Grove" was originally recorded by The Lovin' Spoonful.

The medley of "Just a Gigolo" and "I Ain't Got Nobody" is based on Louis Prima's 1956 medley combining two pre-World War II songs. This version peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, supported by a well-received music video. Roth's version of the well-known Beach Boys' hit "California Girls" peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, the same position that the Beach Boys' original rendition reached 20 years prior.
