"The Rumour" is a song recorded by English-born Australian singer Olivia Newton-John for her fourteenth studio album, The Rumour (1988). It was released as the lead single from the album in April 1988 by Mercury Records. The song was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and it features backing vocals and piano by John. The single did fairly well around the world while not as successful as she would have hopedhaving a peak postion in Austraia of#35 in Canada #50,Germany #36, the UK#85 and the Billboard Hot 100 #62.
