78 Saab - 1999 - Hello Believers

 


78 Saab formed at the Australian National University, in Canberra during the summer of 1995–6 and relocated to Sydney in February 1997. After releasing five albums and eight EP's / singles, they eventually disbanded in 2012.

Band members on this 1999 CDEP were Ben Nash (vocals, guitar), Jake Andrews (guitar), Garth Tregillgas (bass, vocals, guitar) and Nicholai Danko (drums, percussion).

 Tumbleweed are an Australian rock group formed in 1990 in Tarrawanna. Three of their studio albums appeared on the ARIA Albums Chart: Tumbleweed (No. 48, 13 December 1992), Galactaphonic (No. 6, May 1995), and Return to Earth (No. 11, 1 September 1996). Three releases reached the top 50 on the related ARIA Singles Chart: "Sundial (Maryjane)" (1993), "Gyroscope" (1994), and "Hang Around" (1995).

Cleopatra Wong - 1993 - Cleopatra's Lament FLAC


 

 Following the break-up of the Go-Betweens, Amanda Brown formed the band, Cleopatra Wong (1991–1992), with Go-Betweens drummer Lindy Morrison, resulting in two marginally successful mini-CDs on the rooArt label, 'Egg' and 'Cleopatra's Lament', including the single (and video) "Thank You". Cleopatra Wong played around Sydney and even toured South East Asia. Cleopatra Wong came to a surprise end in 1993 when Lindy left on the eve of a repackaging deal of the two EP's for US release, a deal which then didn't go through.(Kimbo)

Yothu Yindi - 1991 - Treaty (The Filthy Lucre Remix) FLAC


 

 "Treaty" was written by Australian musician Paul Kelly and Yothu Yindi members Mandawuy Yunupingu, Kellaway, Williams, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Mununggurr and Marika and Peter Garrett. The initial in June 1991 release received limited radio and television exposure (mainly on ABC radio and SBS television). The Filthy  Lucre Remix has been posted elsewhere here but this single has the Dub version. Thanks to the Duck for this one.
